Attempt to pass medical examination after being wounded turns into detention for Volgograd resident

Employees of the military commissariat (registration and enlistment office) have detained Alexei Gaun, a Volgograd resident, for unauthorized abandonment of his military unit, when he tried to undergo a medical examination after being seriously wounded in the special military operation (SMO) zone in Ukraine. Alexei Gaun is recognized as a disabled person, his sister asserts.

According to Irina Slukina, Alexei's sister, who also lives in Volgograd, her brother was mobilized in September 2022; and in July 2023, he was seriously wounded in the SMO zone in Ukraine: his toe was torn off; his bones were broken and his foot was damaged. He was a sapper and received a mine explosion wound, the "Volgograd Online" has quoted Irina Slukina as saying. Alexei was treated in hospitals for a long time; then he was recognized as Category III disabled person.

Recently, a criminal case was opened against Alexei Gaun for leaving his military service without permission. On May 31, he arrived at his military unit in Volgograd, where he was tied up and sent straight to the airport, the "Volgograd News" Telegram channel has reported.

"Alexei said that from people like him, they form the "Storm" detachment and send it to the SMO. But his health is only deteriorating. Why should he, a disabled person, take his military service," his sister has complained.

Let us remind you that earlier Nikolai Dorofeev, a resident of the Volgograd region, had challenged his mobilization decision in court. He emphasized that the military commissariat disregarded his statement about the consequences of his wounds. However, in March 2023, the court sided with the commissariat.

In February 2023, the Volgograd Garrison Military Court rejected the claim lodged by Dmitry Denisov, who was mobilized despite his chronic diseases.
