Participants of Lubyanka meeting demand to withdraw "death squads" from Ingushetia

Near the Solovki Boulder in the Lubyanka Square in Moscow, a meeting was held in memory of the victims of the 1992 Ossetian-Ingush conflict in the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia. The participants of the meeting have also voiced against current tortures, extrajudicial executions and kidnappings in Ingushetia and North Ossetia and in defence of Russians in Ingushetia.

Some 150 persons took part in the action - mainly, representatives of the Ingush Diaspora of Moscow. Many men were in black T-shirts with the image of the banner of the Republic Ingushetia and a motto: "No to genocide in the Caucasus!"

Practically all the orators were accusing the authorities of Northern Ossetia of hampering the comeback of Ingush refugees to their houses in the Prigorodny District, and the Kremlin - of supporting the Ossetian authorities. They demanded to strictly follow the Law "On Rehabilitation of Repressed Nations" and return the houses and property that people lost during their deportation in 1944.

Magomed Mutsolgov, Chairman of the "Mashr" Ingush Association of Relatives of Missing People, has reminded to the audience that today in Ingushetia blood is shed almost daily. According to his data, over 500 persons were killed and 156 kidnapped during the last six years in the Republic.

In the opinion of some of the speakers, the events which are presented as "the ethnic Ossetian-Ingush conflict" is actually a territorial conflict staged and organized by supreme authorities. The reason of all this lies in the "self-interested games" played by the government of Russia, which pursues "brainless national policy" and shuts its eyes on people's sufferings.

Mr Mutsolgov has explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the today's action in Lubyanka was organized by the independent Internet portal Ingushetia.ru and the "Heritage" Ingush Moscow Youth Organization.
