Another case of Makhachkala riots reaches court in Stavropol Territory

The Grachevsky District Court of the Stavropol Territory has begun considering the case of eight residents of Dagestan accused of involvement in the riots at the Makhachkala Airport.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 26, the Novokubansky District Court began considering the cases of six defendants.

The above case involves Saiputdin Rashidov, Sharaputdin Abdusalamov, Gerey Djamalutdinov, Khusein Khalibekov, Khangishi Israfilov, Navruzali Shikhmagomedov, Zainalbek Kairbekov and Saipudin Saipudinov. They were accused of participating in mass riots, using violence against law enforcers and violating safety requirements at transport facilities, which resulted in major damage.

According to investigators, the defenders' motive for taking part in mass riots was in ethnic and religious hatred and enmity towards Israeli citizens.

The case mentions 30 injured law enforcers, 23 of whom were wounded, as well as the amount of the property damage to the airport worth over 24 million roubles.

Earlier, the Armavir City Court sentenced the following airport rioters, Anvarbek Ataev, Islam Ibragimov, Magomed Omaraskhabov, Rabadan Radjabov and Salik Ramazanov to prison terms ranging from six years and four months to nine years. The convicts' advocates and relatives claimed that the court had issued severe verdicts without proofs of their guilt. All the five defendants, whose case is being heard by the Andropov District Court, have refused to plead guilty.
