Volgograd political analyst questioned in connection with Prigozhin's rebellion

In Volgograd, Law enforcers have searched the apartment of Mikhail Serenko, a journalist and a political analyst, after which he was interrogated as a witness in the criminal case opened in connection with the Evgeny Prigozhin's armed rebellion.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a criminal case had been opened against Prigozhin for inciting an armed rebellion. On June 23, after his talks with President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, the fighters of the "Wagner" Private Military Company (PMC) left Rostov-on-Don for their field camps.

On June 24, agents of the FSB (Russian Federal Security Service) searched Mikhail Serenko's apartment.

"They seized my home and editorial phones. My wife and daughter were scared," he said.

During the interrogation, he was asked how he felt about the "Wagner" PMC and whether he had any acquaintances among PMC fighters.

He has expressed incomprehension by being involved in the rebellion case. "Apparently, the search for accomplices of the rebellion is now underway throughout the country. So, I was captured by the wave," Mr Serenko has suggested.

He is a well-known political analyst and a publicist; in the past he headed the administration of the Traktorozavodskoi District of Volgograd and was a deputy of the Volgograd City Duma, the "Bloknot Volgograda" outlet has informed.

According to Serenko's wife, during the search "they took away all the equipment, with the exception of personal mobile phones and two old tablets." "The worst thing is that he was not even allowed to phone an advocate," she said.

On June 24, the office of the "Wagner" PMC in Volgograd was cordoned off by law enforcers, eyewitnesses have reported.
