Blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov, Kadyrov's critic, gets in touch with rights defenders

Tumso Abdurakhmanov, a Chechen blogger, has got in touch with human rights defenders, but failed to specify the reason for his long silence and his current whereabouts.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 1, 2022, information appeared on the Internet about the murder of Tumso Abdurakhmanov in Sweden. Chingiz Akhmadov, the Director of "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company), said that Akhmed Zakaev, who was actively criticized by the blogger, was behind the possible murder of Abdurakhmanov. However, on December 9, the press service of the government of the self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria* reported that Tumso was alive. Abdurakhmanov will testify at trial in Munich, the Swedish radio reported citing Laurent Lafleur, the court spokesman.

Tumso Abdurakhmanov has contacted the "Vayfond" Chechen human rights association, the "Novaya Gazeta Europe" has reported. "He called to clarify some legal issues, and allowed to announce that he is alive," the outlet quotes a representative of the association as saying.
