Law enforcers take Pogorov from hospital for interrogation

On May 26, Akhmed Pogorov, an Ingush activist, transferred to house arrest, was hospitalized due to his health deterioration. However, law enforcers used a reanimobile to take him from hospital to Essentuki for conducting some investigative actions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 26, law enforcers detained Akhmed Pogorov, a former head of the Ingush branch of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), now a co-chairman of the World Congress of the Ingush People, who has been put on the wanted list within the case of a rally in Magas. On May 25, Magomed Gagiev, an advocate, announced that Pogorov had been transferred from custody under house arrest in a place designated by the court.

On March 26, 2019, residents of Ingushetia continued their protest rally in Magas without a sanction from the authorities. In the morning on March 27, protesters clashed with the police. Starting since the early April of 2019, mass arrests of oppositionists took place in Ingushetia. The case of seven Ingush protest leaders, accused of creating an extremist community in connection with the rally in Magas, is being considered since November 24, 2020, by the Essentuki City Court.

In the morning on May 26, Akhmed Pogorov felt bad; an ambulance was called, and he was hospitalized. Magomed Gagiev, his advocate, notified the investigator about his client's health problems, the Human Rights Centre (HRC)"Memorial"* reported on its Facebook page.

However, law enforcers took Pogorov out of hospital and brought to Essentuki in a reanimobile for conducting some investigative actions, human rights defenders have reported.

Doctors insisted that the patient should not be taken out of hospital, "Fortanga" said in its Telegram channel with reference to a Pogorov's relative.
