Armenian authorities blame citizens for coronavirus spread

The coronavirus death toll in Armenia has reached 245, while the number of cases has reached 14,669. The rapid COVID-19 spread is caused by the negligent attitude of local residents to the observance of anti-epidemiological rules, Nikol Pashinyan, the Premier, and Suren Papikyan, the Minister of Territorial Management, have stated.

During June 10-11, in Armenia, 18 people died from coronavirus; and the total number of deaths as of June 11 reached 245. On June 10-11, 566 new cases of coronavirus infection were registered – as of June 11, there were a total of 14,669 infection cases since the start of the epidemic.

These coronavirus incidence figures illustrate the overall picture of observance by Armenian residents of established anti-epidemiological standards, Nikol Pashinyan said at the June 11 briefing.

"Today, by our behaviour, we can predict how many new coronavirus cases will be registered in Armenia in a week or two," Mr Pashinyan has stated, adding that the issue of extending the state of emergency for another month will be raised at the June 12 government sitting.

The virus spread in Armenia is facilitated by citizens' negligent attitude to calls of relevant bodies to observe the anti-epidemiological standards, Minister Papikyan has stated. According to his story, local residents' participation in various events remains a huge problem.
