Dagestan registers largest increase in number of coronavirus cases in Northern Caucasus

In the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), the number of cases of the coronavirus infection increased by 481 over 24 hours. The largest number of new coronavirus-infected patients was registered in Dagestan.

According to the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision), over 24 hours, new cases of the coronavirus infection have been registered in all seven regions of Northern Caucasus. The largest number of new cases (164) was registered in Dagestan. In the Stavropol Territory, tests on the coronavirus infection were positive for 89 patients, in North Ossetia – for 73 patients, in Ingushetia – for 47, in Karachay-Cherkessia and Kabardino-Balkaria – for 46 and 43 patients, respectively. The smallest number of new cases of the coronavirus infection over 24 hours was registered in Chechnya, where tests on the coronavirus infection were positive for 19 patients, the "Rospotrebnadzor" reports on its official website.

Dagestan leads in the total number of coronavirus-infected people. By 10:35 a.m. Moscow time on May 1, in Dagestan, the number of coronavirus-infected people was 1553, in North Ossetia – 836, in Ingushetia – 769, in the Stavropol Territory – 651, in Chechnya – 504, in Kabardino-Balkaria – 499, and in Karachay-Cherkessia – 398, reports the government-run website "Stopkoronavirus.ru". Thus, the total number of the coronavirus infection cases in the regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District amounted to 5210.
