Chechen residents note inefficiency of quarantine

During the day, in Chechnya, the number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus infection increased from 64 to 105. Strict restrictions did not lead to a decrease in the spread of COVID-19, local residents note.

By April 15, in Chechnya, the number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus infection increased by 41 and reached 105, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Chechen Ministry for Public Health. The death toll and the number of the patients who recovered have not changed, and those numbers are 5 and 15, respectively, reports an official from the Chechen Ministry for Public Health.

From the end of March, Chechnya launched raids of policemen enforcing the quarantine regime, and entry to Grozny was restricted. From April 5, entry and exit from Chechnya was also restricted. Since April 13, people are banned from leaving home without special permits.

The deterioration of the epidemiological situation amid such stringent measures surprised residents of Chechnya. "Such tough measures have been taken. Total control is everywhere, and the epidemic is still growing and growing. I don't even know what to think," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Zalina, a local resident.

"Every day I wait for news that the spread of the coronavirus infection has decreased, but it turns out the other way around. The number of coronavirus-infected people is growing, and, as we see, it is growing at a fast pace. Why then should we keep all these tough measures and restrictions? The alarm in society is growing," summarized Marina, a resident of Chechnya.
