NKR opposition calls on instruction of the state of emergency

The participants of the action held by the "Revolutionary Party" in Stepanakert have demanded to announce the state of emergency in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) because of coronavirus and postpone the elections scheduled for March 31.

On March 23, activists began a round-the-clock action demanding to postpone the presidential and parliamentary elections because of coronavirus. They also demand from the NKR President and heads of power structures to resign.

"Once the government has decided to close educational and cultural institutions, invited citizens to self-isolation, limited people's entry to and exit from the country, let it accept that there is indeed a threat of coronavirus, declare the state of emergency and postpone the elections," Arthur Osipyan, the leader of the "Revolutionary Party" of Artsakh (NKR), told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He has stated said that if the requirements are not met, the party will "continue fighting, because the corrupt system must be abolished."

Djivan Abramyan, a private entrepreneur from Armenia, said that six young people had come to Stepanakert to support the protest movement.
