Araik Arutyunyan's opponents hold night picket near Ministry of Education

Activists and students on strike announced an ongoing sit-down picket with the demand for the resignation of Araik Arutyunyan, Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports. Today, about 30 protesters have spent the night near the walls of the Ministry of Education's building.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 4, the youth wing of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" demanded the resignation of Araik Arutyunyan from the post of the minister. On November 6, young activists of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" held a protest rally in front of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports. They left empty cardboard boxes there so that Araik Arutyunyan could pack his personal items after his resignation. On November 7, the activists were joined by students, who went on strike on November 6. The students protest against the initiative of the Ministry of Education about making optional the studies of the history of Armenia and the Armenian language and literature at non-humanitarian faculties.

The activists of the youth wing of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" and students of a number of Yerevan higher educational institutions announced their ongoing sit-down picket in front of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports. About 30 activists brought sleeping bags with them. They spread them on the site in front of the entrance to the government complex and spent the night there, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The protest will continue until Araik Arutyunyan resigns, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by Gor Sargsyan, an activist of the youth wing of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun".
