In Nazran, rally in memory of victims of Ossetian-Ingush conflict held without speeches of local residents

In Nazran, participants of a mourning rally expressed their dissatisfaction with the fact that victims of the 1992 Ossetian-Ingush conflict had not been given any chance to deliver their speeches at the rally. The authorities hold the rally formally, but this is not a reason to ignore the event, human rights defender Tamerlan Akiev believes.

Elizaveta Barkinkhoeva, the leader of the "Initiative Group for Search for Disappeared People", expressed her indignation about the fact that she had not been given a chance to deliver a speech at the rally.

"My father and my brother disappeared. They were taken away from our house. For 27 years, the problem with the search for the disappeared persons has not been resolved at the proper level ... Where are 192 disappeared people?" Elizaveta Barkinkhoeva said.

Bashir Iliev, a resident of the Tarskoye village in the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia, also expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that only officials spoke at the rally.

Muslim Albakov, who now lives in Ingushetia, has said that his family members got help from the state, but they still were short of money to build a house.

Tamerlan Akiev, the head of the Ingush branch of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", noted that "the tragedy of the autumn of 1992 affected every Ingush native."
