In Makhachkala, participants of May Day rally report violations of their rights

Events dedicated to the May Day were held in Makhachkala. The rights of workers are violated, and the organizations called upon to protect them do not work, say residents of Dagestan at a rally.

The rally was organized by the Dagestani branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF). According to the organizers, the rally was attended by more than 250 people.

Ruslan Lugovoi, a member of the CPRF's branch in Dagestan, believes that the problem of protecting the rights of workers is becoming particularly relevant. "Unpopular laws," in particular, a law on pension reform, cause discontent, Ruslan Lugovoi explains.

On May 1, in Makhachkala, activists tried to carry out for the first time the "Monstration" action, but the police dispersed it. Law enforcers detained eight participants of the action, and four of them were fined.

Residents of Makhachkala informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about violations of labour rights. Thus, according to 17-year-old Sultan, sometimes employers do not pay wages under the pretext of forced delays.

Student Khadizhat has noted that in the republic, as well as in Russia as a whole, there are no organizations that actually protect the rights of employees.

Abdulla Magomedov, the chairman of the Dagestani Republican Association of Trade Unions, believes that the holiday plays an important role in uniting all workers and demonstrates the solidarity of all categories of the population, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.

Earlier, residents of Chechnya have reported about being obliged to come to the May Day actions. In North Ossetia, public sector employees complained about their low salaries.
