Law enforcers identify man killed near Dagestani village as suicide bomber's brother

Ilyas Sharipov, killed at night during a special operation in the Gumbet District, was a brother of Maryam Sharipova, who blew herself up in the Moscow metro in 2010, reported a source from the law enforcement bodies.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that last night, a special operation was conducted near the village of Igali in the Gumbet District. As a result, two suspected militants were killed, including, according to the preliminary information, Ilyas Sharipov, the leader of the "Balakhani" militant grouping, who was on the federal wanted list.

Today, a source from the law enforcement bodies has reported it is suggested that the killed suspect was a brother of suicide bomber Maryam Sharipova. "During the identification of the militants, it turned out that one of them was Ilyas Sharipov, a brother of Maryam Sharipova. She blew herself up in the metro in Moscow in 2010," reported the source as quoted by the "Interfax".

On March 29, 2010, bombings took place at the Moscow metro stations "Lubyanka" and "Park Kultury", and as a result, 40 people were killed. According to the secret services, the terror act at the metro station "Lubyanka" was committed by Maryam Sharipova, a native of Dagestan, who was the wife of militant Magomedali Vagabov.

Today, at 10:00 a.m. Moscow time, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime in the Gumbet District was lifted, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to an official from the operational headquarters for Dagestan.
