Stenin convoyed to Tambov Region on eve of trial

On October 28, the consideration of the transfer of Igor Stenin, the leader of the nationalist movement "Russians of Astrakhan", to the general-security colony was disrupted, because that one day before the trial, Stenin was convoyed to the Tambov Region.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the nationalist Igor Stenin was sentenced to two years of colony-settlement for reposting, in the social network "VKontakte", an extremist article on the war in Ukraine. His defence insisted that Stenin had made no reposting.

The presentation of the bosses of Correctional Colony No. 10 to change the colony type for Stenin arrived in court a month ago, on September 28. It proposed to transfer the convict from the colony-settlement to the general-security colony.

The sitting of the Sovietsky District Court of Astrakhan on the case was scheduled for October 28. However, it failed, because on October 27 Igor Stenin was convoyed to the Tambov Region, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to the defence, Stenin should not have been transferred from one colony type to another, since there were no sufficient grounds for that.

His defence has sent applications about violations of Stenin's rights to the Ombudspersons of Russia and the Astrakhan Region, to bosses of the Regional Department of the Russian Federal Correction Service (known as FSIN), to the General Prosecutor's Office and the prosecutor in charge of supervising the observance of law at jails of the Astrakhan Region.
