At trial in Gyumri, lawsuit against Russia voiced out

At the today's session of the court, which is considering the murder of the Armenian family by a Russian serviceman Valery Permyakov, the advocate of successors of the Avetisyan family has petitioned for lodging a civil lawsuit against the Russian Federation, which should bear, according to the claimants, responsibility for the mistakes of the command of the military base, which had led to the tragedy.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the trial of Valery Permyakov began in the territory of the 102nd Russian Military Base in Gyumri in December 2015. On May 14, the advocates of the Avetisyans' successors criticized the procedure for selecting soldiers for military service in Armenia, and stated the need to bring the Russian officers, who had sent Permyakov to Gyumri, to justice.

Aramazd Kiviryan, a new successors' advocate, has presented, at the travel court session in the Shirak Region, a petition to lodge a civil lawsuit against Russia.

"We've stressed the fact that Russia had sent abroad a soldier with mental disorders. Moreover, knowing it for sure, Permyakov's commanders gave him a service firearm," Mr Kiviryan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The petition also notes the fact of a late informing of the Armenian party about the fact of desertion.

The claimants demand 50,000 euros for each adult family member, and 100,000 euros for each of the two Avetisyans' children. Thus, the total claimed amount is 450,000 euros.
