In Rashid Evloev's case, investigators ignore evidence of his alibi, his advocate asserts

The defence has completed review of the materials of the criminal case against Rashid Evloev, a native of the village of Maiskoe of North Ossetia, accused of involvement in training at a camp of militants in Syria for commitment of terror acts. Investigators did not attach to the case the documents confirming the alibi of Rashid Evloev. This has been reported by advocate Roza Magomedova.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 1, 2015, Rashid Evloev was extradited from Germany to Russia, where he was charged of involvement in training in the territory of Syria for terrorist activity.

Today, May 13, is the deadline for review of the materials of the criminal case by the defence, and then, the case will be sent to the prosecutor for approval of the indictment. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Roza Magomedova, an advocate of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", representing the interests of Rashid Evloev.

According to the advocate, on April 2, the defence filed a complaint about the investigators' refusal to attach to the case materials the documents confirming the Rashid Evloev's alibi. However, no decision concerning the complaint has been received yet.

The investigators have unreasonably refused to attach the documents to the case materials and thus violated the constitutional rights of Rashid Evloev, including the right to protection and to presentation of evidence to refute the charge, the defender believes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to Roza Magomedova, the charge is based on the testimonies of two witnesses who claim they saw Rashid Evloev in Kharitan. The same people, according to the advocate, are involved as witnesses in the criminal case against Khasan Edilkhanov, a native of Chechnya, who was sentenced in 2015 to 3.5 years of imprisonment for involvement in illegal armed formations (IAFs).
