Former ROVD chief killed in Dagestan

The former chief of the ROVD (District Interior Division) for the Shamil District of Dagestan, who retired a year ago, was shot and killed. The law enforcement authorities are engaged in checking the version of involvement in the murder of members of the armed underground.

According to the police, at 10:00 p.m. Moscow time of April 28, the former police officer was shot and killed in the village of Golotl.

The personnel of the ROVD were alarmed, and all escape routes for the attackers were blocked, the "Interfax-South" reports with reference to the press service of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

According to the law enforcement authorities, the killed man was the former chief of the ROVD for the Shamil District.

"He was killed because of his official activities. According to the preliminary information, the crime may have involved members of the armed underground," the "Interfax" quotes a source from the Dagestani law enforcement bodies as reporting.

According to the preliminary information, two attackers shot and killed 52-year-old Magomedov from Kalashnikov submachine guns and then fled, the "Life.ru" reports with reference to a source from the Dagestani law enforcement bodies.
