In Irib, September 1 was held in a madrasa due to the delayed construction of the school.

In the village of Irib in the Charodinsky district of Dagestan, the school assembly was held in a madrasa, as the school building was not ready for the start of the academic year. Residents of the republic criticized officials for the prolonged resolution of the school issue in comments on a social media post about this.

A video about the assembly on September 1 for the students of Irib school in the madrasa was published on Instagram* by the public page tut.dagestan on September 4. In the video, administration staff sit at a table, students are lined up along the walls, the Russian anthem is playing, and Arabic calligraphy is visible on the walls of the room.

"The solemn assembly in the village of Irib was held in a madrasa. Due to the unfinished repairs of the local school, the solemn assembly on September 1 took place within the walls of the madrasa. Students temporarily celebrated Knowledge Day at the new venue. As residents of the village write, they hope that the school repairs will be completed soon," the video description states.

This post on the Instagram* public page tut.dagestan has about 1.6 million followers. As of 08:50 MSK on September 5, it had received 862 likes and 376 comments.

Users identifying themselves as residents of Dagestan were outraged by the holding of the school assembly with the anthem in the madrasa. "Couldn’t it be done without music?" asked koramagomed8.

"Songs in a madrasa, where there are inscriptions from the holy Quran. According to the Quran, songs seem to be forbidden," wrote ver_nice_90.

Other users criticized officials for the fact that the school issue was not resolved by the start of the academic year. "Ask yourself how it happened that children were left without a school and who is to blame for this," wrote genius25450.

"And why wasn’t the school completed on time?" asked magomed.7080.

"Well, everything will be done by the leaders, just to be praised," noted osmanmagomedov666.

Some commentators focused on the problem of the school building itself and the temporary placement of students. "In Irib, the school is in an emergency state, so the school moved to this building," wrote khabibulaeva.kh.

"And why is no one condemning those who close madrasas, why is a license needed in the mountains? The school moved there temporarily, that is, not forever, then this building will be demolished altogether," noted aminawxrrr.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that issues with a lack of school places, emergency buildings, and prolonged school repairs remain relevant in Dagestan. For instance, on September 19, 2025, residents of the village of Bilbil-Kazmalyar in the Magaramkent district complained about an emergency school building with cracks in the walls and a collapsing ceiling. Authorities then promised to buy the unfinished building of the new school and complete the work.
