Russian singer voices readiness to assist Amnesty International

On May 26, Amnesty International (AI) launched its annual report about the human rights situation in 156 countries of the world. The full text of this document is published in Russian for the first time.

In the part devoted to human rights violations in Russia, much attention is paid to the problem of the ongoing conflict in the Chechen republic, including violations committed by federal troops and Chechen police, extrajudicial executions, "disappearances", and torture. Besides, it is noted in the report that bomb attacks on Russian territory are allegedly related to the conflict in Chechnya.

Boris Grebenshchikov, a popular singer and leader of the Aquarium group, who attended the presentation of the report, voiced his readiness to assist AI. AI is an organization that can work a miracle and save a man sometimes. I'll try to do what I can. To save the life of even one man is a deserving goal, you know," Mr Grebenshchikov said.
