The election commission of Chechnya has registered formal opponents of Kadyrov.

Ismail Denilkhanov and Khalid Nakaev have been registered as candidates for the elections of the head of Chechnya after Ramzan Kadyrov.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on July 8, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, visited the election commission of the republic, submitting documents for participation in the elections on the unified voting day on September 20. He received permission to open a special election account. The next day, the election commission of Chechnya accepted documents from two other candidates for the position of head of the region - the chairman of the Public Chamber of Chechnya, Ismail Denilkhanov, and a deputy of the republican parliament, Khalid Nakaev. On August 6, Kadyrov was registered as a candidate.

The election commission of Chechnya completed the registration of candidates for the post of head of the republic at today's meeting. The status of candidates for the elections of the region's leader was officially granted to the chairman of the republican Public Chamber and a deputy of the Chechen parliament, the election commission reported on its Telegram channel.

The head of the Public Chamber of Chechnya, Ismail Denilkhanov, was nominated by the regional branch of the party "Just Russia", while parliamentarian Khalid Nakaev was nominated by the CPRF branch. Voting in Chechnya will last three days - September 18, 19, and 20, 2026, notes "Grozny Inform".

Khalid Nakaev is running for the head of Chechnya for the second consecutive time. In the 2021 election, he finished last, receiving 0.12% of the votes.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in the upcoming State Duma elections, the Chechen list of "United Russia" will be headed for the first time since 2007 not by Ramzan Kadyrov, but by current deputies from the region.

At the same time, during a live line on December 14, Ramzan Kadyrov stated that he is fed up with power, but will run for the head of the republic in 2026 if the president suggests it and the people support him. On April 29, Kadyrov met with Putin in Moscow and secured his support, once again calling himself his "infantryman". During this meeting, Putin expressed hope that "the residents of Chechnya will again support Kadyrov in the elections.

On July 6, "United Russia" nominated Ramzan Kadyrov as a candidate for the position of head of the Chechen Republic. On July 2, the Council of Elders of Chechnya unanimously supported Kadyrov's candidacy at a meeting in Grozny.
