Number of people waiting to receive displaced person status in Russia has reduced from 225 to 18 thousand people

426 thousand displaced persons are on the books in the Russian Federation, reported Russian Deputy Interior Minister, Federal Migration Service Head Aleksandr Chekalin on Wednesday.

A distinct tendency has taken shape recently towards the reduction of the number of people waiting to receive displace person status. Since 1995 this number has reduced from 225 to 18 thousand people, he announced.

For the last year and a half citizens who forcedly left places of their residence in Chechnya have been gradually resettling there. Now their total number is 256 thousand people, including 190 thousand peculiarly in Chechnya, told Chekalin.

65.7 thousand citizens are temporary accommodated outside Chechnya. Their maintenance is to cost 1 billion rubles for the federal budget this year, he informed.
