The prosecutor's conclusions about the abduction of Movlaev's parents are questioned.

Based on similar cases that occurred in Chechnya, the incident involving Mansur Movlaev's parents can be considered abduction, although the prosecutor's office stated that there was no crime, noted human rights activist Maxim Rudnev. After their release, there were no threats to Movlaev's parents, he pointed out.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the prosecutor's office of Chechnya refused to recognize the abduction of the parents of Chechen native Mansur Movlaev – Khava and Movsar Movlaevs, considering the investigation's decision to refuse to initiate a criminal case as lawful.

The main reason for filing a statement about the alleged abduction of Mansur Movlaev's parents was the appeal of his support group to the public and their expressed concern, said human rights activist Maxim Rudnev.

"Due to the peculiarities of the region and the specifics of my work, I, and not only I, am aware of such episodes in previous years. I think those who are familiar with the situation in the republic have an idea of how such 'events' occur and how common they are. Undoubtedly, this is a frequent practice, so I maintain that such an event took place," he told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

After such cases, families mostly fear making any statements, and the Movlaev family was no exception, Rudnev emphasized.

"From my sources, I received reports that the parents do not comment on their 'absence', and in general, as I have stated in various media, they are very inactive in making any contacts," he noted.

After the return of Movlaev's parents, no threats were received, Rudnev pointed out.

"I was informed that they are doing well, all is home and so on. Regarding any restrictions. In general, any family may have problems communicating with the outside world, again due to banal fear, they do not communicate with outsiders unnecessarily," he concluded.

Recall that in 2022, Mansur Movlaev was detained by security forces in Chechnya and held in an illegal prison. He escaped from there in January 2023 and made it to Kyrgyzstan. In August 2023, security forces in Kyrgyzstan detained Movlaev, who was wanted in Russia for financing extremism. A court in Bishkek sentenced Movlaev to six months in a colony and subsequent deportation from the country. On November 20, 2023, Movlaev was released and left Kyrgyzstan on his own to avoid being sent back home.

In May 2025, Movlaev was detained in Kazakhstan and placed under extradition arrest. The Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan decided to extradite him to the Russian authorities.

In February, the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan suspended the execution of the decision to extradite Movlaev until his asylum application is finally considered. On September 10, it became known that the cassation court in Kazakhstan found no violations in the refusal to grant Movlaev asylum. Movlaev, held in a Kazakhstani pre-trial detention center, attempted suicide.
