Protesters in Tbilisi demanded the release of political prisoners.

Another rally took place in the center of Tbilisi on the 662nd day of daily protests, with participants demanding to return the country to the path of Eurointegration and to free political prisoners.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", participants in the rallies in Batumi and Tbilisi on the 660th day of protests demanded the release of political prisoners. One of them, doctor Georgy Chakhunashvili, was released today as part of a plea deal with the investigation.

Today is the 662nd day of continuous protests – citizens gathered near the parliament and city council building in Tbilisi, reports Publika.

The participants oppose the decision of the "Georgian Dream" party not to include the issue of opening negotiations with the European Union on the agenda until the end of 2028. They also protest against the results of the 2024 parliamentary elections and state that the results compiled by the "Georgian Dream" government do not reflect the free will of the voters. Citizens demand the return of the country to the Euro-Atlantic course, the release of political prisoners, the abolition of repressive mechanisms, and the conduct of elections in a free and fair environment, writes Publika.

As can be seen from the photo attached to the publication, protesters gathered in the center of Tbilisi holding flags of Georgia, the EU, the USA, and Ukraine.

The day before, a traditional "Saturday March" took place in Tbilisi. Participants first gathered near the "Avlabari" metro station, from where they headed to the parliament building. They brought Georgian flags and flags of the European Union with them. They also chanted: "Down with the Ivanishvili regime!", writes "Interpressnews".

Protesters in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Security forces have conducted harsh crackdowns on protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detaining protesters. Thousands of people have faced administrative prosecution during the protests.
