A resident of Derbent was fined for displaying extremist symbols

The Derbent City Court fined a 40-year-old local resident, finding him guilty of publicly displaying the symbols of an extremist organization.

According to the court, in September 2026, during monitoring, police officers discovered an open status in the WhatsApp* messenger that was accessible to users: an image of a black flag with Arabic inscriptions. This symbolism, according to law enforcement, is identical to the symbols of a banned organization.

The page belongs to a local resident who works as a manager in a commercial organization, the united press service of the courts of Dagestan reported today on their Telegram channel.

During the court session, the man fully admitted his guilt. The court found him guilty of displaying the symbols of an extremist organization 1 and imposed a fine of one thousand rubles. The ruling has not yet entered into legal force.

According to the registry of administrative offenses on the court's website, the defendant in the last case under this article was Ismail Ibrahimov. The case was submitted to the court on September 17, and on the same day, Judge Galimov issued a guilty verdict.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Kizilyurt District Court found a resident of the village of Chontaul guilty of publicly displaying the symbols of extremist organizations and fined him 1500 rubles. Earlier, a resident of the Buynaksk district, Kurban Arabkhanov, was sentenced to one year and six months in a strict regime colony for publications online of symbols banned in Russia.
