Rescuers reported the localization of the fire in the floodplains near Anapa.

Emergency Ministry employees today localized a fire in the floodplain area near Anapa that occurred on August 30. Its area was 690 hectares, and firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to residential houses.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on August 30, the fire in the protected floodplain area near the village of Chemburka approached residential buildings, and Anapa was engulfed in smoke. Authorities recommended residents of the village of Chemburka, the Anapa stanitsa, and the Pioneer Avenue area to close their windows and avoid going outside unless necessary. Ecologists warned of potential harm to the wildlife in the floodplains, where waterfowl, amphibians, reptiles, and other animals reside.

The fire in the protected floodplain area near the village of Chemburka was localized on August 31 at 06:25 Moscow time. The total area of the fire was 690 hectares, and there were no casualties or injuries. A total of 91 people and 32 units of equipment were involved in firefighting, reported the Emergency Ministry's office in the Krasnodar region on its website.

The fire broke out in the reeds of the Anapa floodplains on the afternoon of August 30. The report of the fire was received by rescuers at 12:34 Moscow time. Firefighters arrived at 12:43 Moscow time and assessed the burning area at one hectare. Strong gusts of wind posed a threat of rapid fire spread, the Emergency Ministry indicated.

After localization, firefighting continued. Firefighters are extinguishing the last hotspot of fire covering about 25 square meters, noted the Operational Headquarters of the Krasnodar region in its Telegram channel.

All night, rescuers protected the boundaries of the areas where residential houses and industrial facilities are located. The fire did not spread to nearby buildings, reported Anapa's head, Svetlana Maslova, whose words were quoted by "Interfax" today.

Due to the fire, traffic was closed from 14:40 Moscow time on August 30 on a section of the federal highway A-290 Novorossiysk – Kerch between the 44th and 48th kilometers near Chemburka. Traffic was restored in normal mode at 07:10 Moscow time on August 31, reported BFM Kuban, citing the State Traffic Inspectorate.

The wind carried smoke for several kilometers, so authorities recommended residents of the village of Chemburka, the Anapa stanitsa, and the Pioneer Avenue area to close their windows and avoid leaving their homes unless necessary, according to a message on the Anapa administration's website.

A particularly tense situation developed in the Dalny Lane of the Alexeyevsky microdistrict, where the fire approached residential buildings directly. An operational headquarters was set up there, and firefighting efforts were intensified. Authorities conducted house-to-house visits, worked with residents, and organized water delivery. As a result, the fire did not spread to the houses, reported RBC on August 30.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that large natural fires have occurred repeatedly near Anapa. For instance, in August 2020, a fire enveloped the territory of the "Utrish" nature reserve. After its extinguishment, the area affected by the fire was estimated at about 130 hectares. In November 2019, a fire occurred in the Anapa floodplains near the village of Chemburka, 300–400 meters from residential houses.
