The Kirov Regional Court denied the appeal of former police officer Ivan Tatsenko, who was sentenced for beating a detainee suspected of theft, including a chair, the guard from the village of Prikubansky, Fyodor Valko.

In the colony in Kirovo-Chepetsk, he received a generally neutral characterization, but it was noted that he had not embarked on the path of correction and showed no initiative for work.

Recall that the guard from the village of Prikubansky, Fyodor Valko, was detained by police in August 2023 on suspicion of theft from a factory. In seeking a confession, the law enforcement officers beat him, including with a chair, until he lost consciousness. Doctors diagnosed him with fractures of the processes of three vertebrae, abrasions, bruises, and bleeding in the eye. In December 2023, Valko reported that four months after the beating, the consequences interfere with his work.

Officer Samonov received four years of imprisonment, while operative officer Tatsenko received 3.5 years of imprisonment. Both refused to admit their guilt and claimed that they inflicted injuries on Valko unintentionally. The court explained the lenient sentence by stating that the defendants had no "desire to cause special suffering to the victim." Human rights activists considered the court's interpretation erroneous, pointing out that it "excluded torture from the charges."
