The son of the former head of the Interior Ministry of Krasnodar was sentenced for a fatal traffic accident.

The cassation court upheld the sentence of the son of the former head of the Interior Ministry of Krasnodar, Alexander Semenov, who was sentenced to 11 years in a penal colony for a fatal traffic accident committed while intoxicated.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", at the end of March, it became known that the police in Gelendzhik began an investigation into the criminal case of a 23-year-old driver of a foreign car, whose passenger died in the hospital after the accident. The suspect became the son of the former police chief of Krasnodar, Alexander Semenov, who had previously been convicted under a similar article, sources in law enforcement agencies reported. In December 2023, the case went to court.

The Fourth Cassation Court of General Jurisdiction upheld the sentence of Alexander Semenov, who had previously been convicted for a fatal traffic accident while intoxicated, reports "Morning South" on August 21.

The court of first instance sentenced Semenov to 11 years of imprisonment in a settlement colony and also ordered him to pay the parents of the deceased 23-year-old girl 8.5 million rubles in compensation for moral damage. The Krasnodar Regional Court changed the regime of serving the sentence from a settlement colony to a general regime colony. The defense appealed the decision, citing, among other things, procedural violations.

The cassation instance found no grounds to satisfy the appeal and left the previously made decisions unchanged.

Earlier, in December of last year, the Soviet District Court transferred the property of the former head of the Interior Ministry of Krasnodar, Alexander Semenov, and his wife Olga Semenova to the state, including eight land plots and shares in the rights to five plots, nine residential and 13 non-residential properties, shares in the rights to 11 non-residential premises, and 100% shares in the authorized capital of controlled companies, writes RBC.

Recall that in November 2018, Semenov was already sentenced to seven years in a settlement colony and deprived of the right to drive for a year. The traffic accident occurred in 2017 in Krasnodar, resulting in the death of a road worker and injuries to four people.
