A resident of Stavropol faces a sentence for a comment about the attack on a Russian city

The military court in Rostov-on-Don will consider the case of a resident of the village of Kiyankiz in the Andropov district, accused of publicly justifying terrorism due to a comment in a messenger.

The accused is 43 years old, and she is charged with publicly justifying terrorism on the internet (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of Russia). This article provides for a prison term of five to seven years.

According to the investigation, in April 2025, the woman, holding radical extremist views, posted a publication in one of the messengers and commented on it. The content of her post and comment "justifies violent terrorist actions," the regional investigative committee reported today.

The materials in question justify the attacks of Ukrainian drones on the city of Chapayevsk in the Samara region, the prosecutor's office of Stavropol Krai added. According to the agency, the news about the attacks was accompanied by "approving comments and symbols" from the resident of the village of Kiyankiz. The prosecutor's office also noted that the accused has a negative attitude towards representatives of the Russian authorities.

During the interrogation, the accused admitted her guilt and expressed remorse for her actions, investigators noted. In July, when the woman was only charged, the Investigative Committee reported that her mobile phone was seized, which became material evidence in the case.

The name of the accused, her occupation, the name of the messenger, and the content of the publication are not disclosed in the agencies' messages, and the measure of restraint is also not specified.

The case has been sent to the Southern District Military Court. The details of the accused in cases of justifying terrorism are hidden in its public registry. The "Caucasian Knot" currently does not have comments from the accused or her lawyer.

"Caucasian Knot" reported that courts in southern Russia regularly sentence local residents to real terms in prison for publications on social networks under the article on justifying terrorism via the internet. It is not possible to establish the actual number of such sentences, as not all cases of justifying terrorism enter the public registries of the courts.

On August 11, the Southern District Military Court sentenced 57-year-old Vyacheslav Grishin, a native of Novocherkassk, to a real term, whose comments were seen by law enforcement as calls for extremism and justification of terrorism.
