A state of emergency has been declared in the Gergabil district of Dagestan after heavy rains.

A regional state of emergency has been declared in the settlements of Aymaki, Gergabil, Kikuni, Kurmi, and Khvartikuni. The head of the district has been recommended to ensure the implementation of measures to eliminate the consequences of the emergency situation.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in mid-July, in the Gergabil district of Dagestan, rivers overflowed after heavy rains, houses and social facilities were flooded, and residents of 50 houses were evacuated. In the village of Kikuni, a farm was flooded, resulting in the death of more than 130 sheep and 24 cows.

The acting head of Dagestan, Fyodor Shchukin, declared a regional state of emergency in the Gergabil district of Dagestan by his decree after heavy rains there. The relevant document, dated August 11, was published on the website of the head of the republic.

"In order to eliminate the consequences of the emergency situation caused by a complex of adverse hydrometeorological phenomena in July 2026 in the territory of the Gergabil district, I decree: to classify the emergency situation as a regional emergency and to introduce it in the territory of the Gergabil district within the boundaries of the settlements of Aymaki, Gergabil, Kikuni, Kurmi, and Khvartikuni from August 11, 2026," the text of the decree states.

According to the decree, the head of the district, Magomedali Tagirov, has been recommended to ensure the implementation of measures to eliminate the consequences of the emergency situation, as well as to clarify the extent of the damage caused by the emergency situation.

The decree emphasizes that if there are insufficient own funds to eliminate the consequences, the administration must provide the relevant materials to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Dagestan.

It was previously reported that as a result of heavy precipitation on July 7-8, mudflows, landslides, and rockfalls occurred on several sections of republican and municipal roads in Dagestan. In particular, traffic was blocked on the roads in the Gumbetovsky and Charodinsky districts due to mudflows.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that due to bad weather, dozens of settlements in Dagestan are regularly cut off from transport communication. For example, due to the rains on July 7-8, 56 settlements in Dagestan were cut off from transport communication. Most of them were freed from the transport blockade only on July 12.
