A resident of the KCR received a life sentence for transmitting data about participants in the military operation.

Resident of Karachay-Cherkessia Alexey Kaplunov has been charged with treason in a case regarding the collection of data on the transmission of information about participants in hostilities among prisoners.

"Caucasian Knot" reported that the court sentenced resident of Krasnodar Krai Denis Popov to 25 years in prison for treason. According to the court, he transmitted information about military ships in Novorossiysk to representatives of the organization "Artpodgotovka"*.

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don found resident of Karachay-Cherkessia Alexey Kaplunov guilty of transmitting information about employees of the colony in Stavropol Krai and prisoners sent to the military operation, according to the Telegram channel of the court's press service. Kaplunov was found guilty of treason, as well as participation in the activities of a terrorist organization, and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

According to the investigation, while serving his sentence in the colony, Kaplunov entered into correspondence in June 2024 with a representative of the "Legion of Freedom of Russia" (recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia) and sent him a message about voluntary membership. He then collected and sent information about the employees of the colony who guarded or selected convicts wishing to participate in hostilities, as well as about the convicts themselves.

The press service of the Southern District Military Court clarified that Kaplunov had previously served time for robbery, but this conviction was later expunged, reports "Interfax".

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Evgeny Chernyshov, a resident of Novorossiysk, to 22 years in a strict regime, finding him guilty of treason and participation in a terrorist organization.
