The court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Melitopol resident Denis Zhirakov* to 24 years in prison, finding him guilty of treason and participation in a terrorist organization.

The sentence for Melitopol resident Denis Zhirakov* (listed among terrorists and extremists) was issued by the Southern District Military Court.

The court established that Zhirakov* is a member of a terrorist community, which he joined in 2022. Under the direction of a Ukrainian intelligence officer, he found and collected explosives and devices for creating an improvised explosive device. He kept them until April 2025, when he was detained by law enforcement officers, the court's press service reported on the official website on July 31.

The court found Zhirakov* guilty of committing a crime under Article 275 (treason), part 2 of Article 205.4 (participation in a terrorist organization), and part 4 of Article 222.1 (illegal storage of explosives) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and sentenced him to 24 years in prison with serving the sentence in a strict regime colony, the first five years in prison, as well as a fine of 600,000 rubles.

Melitopol resident Oksana Ptakhina to 18 years in a colony, finding her guilty of participating in the activities of a terrorist community.
