Two servicemen were convicted in Nalchik for evading service.

The military court in Nalchik sentenced Navruzbeg Gadzhimuradov and Kamil Abrekov to one year in a penal colony, finding them guilty of desertion.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on September 24, 2022, parts 2.1, 3.1, and 5 of Article 337 on desertion during mobilization were introduced into the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The amendments provide for imprisonment for up to 10 years. The tightening of legislation after the announcement of mobilization led to harsher sentences for absence from military units or desertion.

Gadzhimuradov and Abrekov were charged with failing to report for duty during mobilization for more than ten days but not more than a month (part 3.1 of Article 337 of the Criminal Code of Russia). The article provides for up to seven years of imprisonment.

According to the prosecution's version, Gadzhimuradov unlawfully left the military unit on April 27, 2026, and went home. On May 19, he decided to return to service and voluntarily came to the military investigative department located in Mozdok (North Ossetia-Alania).

Abrekov, according to the prosecution, left the temporary deployment point of the military unit without valid reasons on May 20, 2026. He also went home and "spent time at his discretion" until June 11 - on that day, a police officer detained him in the village of Kizlyar in the Mozdok district of North Ossetia, reported the press service of the Nalchik garrison military court.

Considering the cases of both servicemen, the court concluded that they realized the illegality of their actions and took into account their expressed regret for what they had done. Both Gadzhimuradov and Abrekov were sentenced to the same punishment - one year in a general regime colony.

The cases of Navruzbeg Gadzhimuradov and Kamil Abrekov were submitted to the court on the same day, July 16, and were also considered on the same day. The sentence in both cases was issued in one session. Both cases were presided over by Judge Malbakov, and the hearings were held in closed session, according to the registry data.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that earlier the court in Nalchik sentenced serviceman Khizir Bukhorov to one year in a penal colony for failing to report to the military unit at the appointed time.
