The bodies of four deceased climbers have been evacuated from Elbrus.

Rescuers evacuated the bodies of four climbers who died on Elbrus, including a resident of the Krasnodar region.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on July 26, rescuers discovered three deceased climbers from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the saddle of Elbrus. They belonged to a group, two members of which died the day before. On the same day, another climber died on Elbrus while ascending with a partner.

On July 27, rescuers evacuated the bodies of four climbers who died during the ascent from Elbrus. This includes three athletes from Bosnia and Herzegovina and a tourist from the Krasnodar region, the press service of the republican emergency management agency reported.

Eleven rescuers participated in the operation. "The bodies of three deceased foreign climbers and the body of the climber from the Krasnodar region were handed over to the investigative operational group of law enforcement agencies at the Azau glade," the agency's message states.

The climbers from Bosnia and Herzegovina were climbing in a group of seven: two were rescued by the emergency services on June 26, while the other five died. On the same day, assistance was required for a Russian group of two: rescuers helped a climber from the Tula region descend from an altitude of 5300 meters, while his partner from the Krasnodar region died.

The Prosecutor's Office of Kabardino-Balkaria reported on inspections regarding the incidents involving both groups of climbers. According to the agency, two Russian tourists were found by volunteers near the Jily-Su area, one of whom was already dead at that time.

Elbrus is a two-peaked cone of an extinct volcano, with both peaks exceeding 5.6 kilometers in height, according to a report by "Caucasian Knot" "Elbrus - the Patriarch of the Caucasus Mountains".
