Ecologists reported oil product stains in the sea near Tuapse.

A trail of oil products about 2.5 kilometers long has been spotted near the port of Tuapse, reported ecologists Evgeny Vitishko and Georgy Kavanosyan.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", social media users and ecologists periodically report oil stains in the Black Sea. For instance, on May 17, social media users reported an oil spill on the beach near Tuapse.

A trail of pollution about 2.5 kilometers long has been spotted near the port of Tuapse, the ecologist Evgeny Vitishko reported today on his Telegram channel.

He attached a satellite image to the post. "In the satellite image from Planet dated July 21, 2026, obtained at 11:20 Moscow time, a dark trail resembling oil pollution is visible in the waters of the Black Sea," Vitishko wrote.

He noted that the trail is gradually expanding and spreading across the sea surface.

The ecologist Georgy Kavanosyan published a photo showing traces of oil products on the beach. "Oil product spills have been spotted on the coast in Tuapse. <…> The oil pollution trail extends south and southeast for about 2.5 kilometers from the oil terminal," Kavanosyan wrote today on his Telegram channel.

In another post, he demonstrated a radar image. It shows dark patches extending towards the sea. "From the port in Tuapse, anthropogenic slicks extending towards the sea for 7 kilometers are identified," the ecologist explained.

As of 1:00 PM Moscow time, there are no comments on the websites of the administrations of Tuapse and the Krasnodar region regarding the information about oil stains in the Black Sea.
