The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Rostislav Malygin, a resident of Cherkessk, to nine years in a penal colony for recruiting acquaintances into a terrorist organization and promoting its activities.

The Southern District Military Court issued a verdict against Rostislav Malygin, finding him guilty of assisting terrorist activities and publicly calling for participation in them (part 1.1 of article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

According to the investigation, Malygin, while in Cherkessk, from November 2021 to August 2024, decided to assist the terrorist organization "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham" (recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia), involving other individuals in it. From September to November 2024, in a conversation with an acquaintance, he positively assessed the organization's fight against those who do not profess Islam. In addition, he involved acquaintances in participating in the organization's activities in Syria, writes Kommersant on July 14.

Also, in June 2025, Malygin posted a video on one of the social networks, promoting the ideologies of the terrorist organization "Imarat Kavkaz" (recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia).

Malygin was sentenced to nine years in a strict regime penal colony, with the first two years to be served in prison.

Earlier, "Caucasian Knot" reported that in February the court sentenced four residents of Ingushetia to terms ranging from 17 to 20 years for participating in a terrorist organization, illegal armed formation, and possession of weapons and explosives.
