Fuel oil emissions on the shore have been recorded in the Temryuk district of Kuban.

On a six-kilometer stretch of the coast in the Temryuk district of Kuban, emissions of fuel oil and contaminated algae have been discovered. Emergency Ministry employees and volunteers are cleaning the coastline, the authorities reported.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", a leak of oil products has resumed from the sunken bow section of the tanker "Volgoneft-239" in the Kerch Strait, as evidenced by satellite images taken in early July. The leak may be related to the increase in water temperature and the pumping of fuel oil from tankers. The "Apple" party has demanded the disclosure of data on the scale of the consequences of the ecological disaster in the Kerch Strait.

Reports of new fuel oil emissions on the coast in the Temryuk district of Krasnodar Krai began to arrive on July 13, environmentalist Georgy Kavanoyan reported today.

“Eyewitnesses report fuel oil emissions in the Temryuk district - yesterday in Ilyich, today - in Kuchugury,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to Kavanoyan, a fine fraction of fuel oil has been washed ashore, with the pollution extending several kilometers.

“Literally 500 meters away is the Tamano-Zaporozhye reserve, where up to 1 million birds stop during migrations. It is currently nesting season there, with about 20 species of birds nesting in the reserve,” noted the ecologist. He added that “volunteers have gone out to clean up.”

Several hours after this publication, the Operational Headquarters of Krasnodar Krai confirmed the data on oil product emissions along the coastline in the Temryuk district.

According to the authorities, the area from the Chushka spit to the village of Kuchugury is contaminated, with a total length of about 5-6 km. “A cluster of contaminated algae has also been identified here,” the official Telegram channel reported.

A local emergency regime has been introduced in the Zaporozhye rural settlement of the Temryuk district. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in Krasnodar Krai, municipal administration, "Kuban-SPAS", and volunteers, as well as units of equipment, have been involved in cleaning the contaminated soil, the Operational Headquarters stated.

“The water surface has been treated with one ton of sorbent,” the publication notes.

Georgy Kavanoyan also published photos taken in the village of Golubitskaya today - the photographs show a scattering of fuel oil clumps washed ashore by the waves.
