Demonstrators on Rustaveli Avenue demanded the release of prisoners of conscience.

Supporters of Georgia's Eurointegration gathered outside the parliament building on the 586th day of continuous protests, despite heavy rain. They demanded the release of political prisoners and a return to the country's Euro-Atlantic course.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on July 5, the 585th day of daily protests, participants of the gathering on Rustaveli Avenue read an address to EU politicians, promising to continue fighting for the country's return to the Eurointegration course.

Activists with national flags and EU flags gathered today on Rustaveli Avenue for the 586th consecutive day.

“Citizens demand the return of the country to the Euro-Atlantic course, the release of political prisoners, the abolition of repressive mechanisms, and the holding of elections in a free and fair environment,” writes Publika.

The gathering took place despite heavy rain, with protesters sheltering from the rain under umbrellas. They held banners saying “Ivanishvili, open the prison doors” and “Freedom for Georgy Mindadze,” according to photos published by photographer Georgy Mosiashvili (Mo Se) on Facebook*.

Protest participants in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Security forces have conducted harsh dispersals of protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detained protesters.
