The court ordered the former head of the Rostov-on-Don Ministry of Internal Affairs to pay 15 million rubles.

The Oktyabrsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don upheld the prosecutor's office's claim against former head of the city's Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sergei Shpak, accused of bribery and fraud.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," at the end of May, the Rostov Region Prosecutor's Office filed a lawsuit seeking 15 million rubles for the state against former head of the Rostov-on-Don Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sergei Shpak, accused of bribery and fraud, and his subordinate, former police officer Sergei Egorkin.

The Oktyabrsky District Court upheld the Rostov Region Prosecutor's Office's claim against Sergei Shpak, the former head of the Rostov-on-Don Ministry of Internal Affairs. "15 million rubles were recovered for the benefit of the state," TASS quotes the court's press service as saying.

According to investigators, Sergei Shpak received bribes in the form of travel packages from a representative of the Pokrovsky concern in exchange for general patronage. From 2019 to 2023, while serving as Deputy Chief of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Rostov-on-Don and then as the head of the department, he and his subordinate stole nearly 300,000 rubles, which were accrued to the operative as salary for days he was absent from work.

Earlier, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don ordered the seizure of the property of former city police detective Sergei Yegorkin, Shpak's subordinate, in favor of the state. The total value of the confiscated assets exceeded 120 million rubles.

The Caucasian Knot also reported that the Pokrovsky concern, having lost its patrons among the security forces, was nationalized, but the state is only a temporary holder of the asset. Meanwhile, the influence of people somehow connected to the Tsapkov gang, whose lands included Pokrovsky, on agribusiness in southern Russia has diminished, but not disappeared completely.
