A Kuban court dismissed a case of discrediting the army.

The Kanevsky District Court dismissed the case against local resident Alexander Maltsev for discrediting the army, issuing only a verbal warning.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," liability for discrediting the armed forces was introduced on March 4, 2022. Since then, residents of Russia, including those from the Krasnodar Krai, have been prosecuted under the corresponding Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. This article provides for a fine of 30,000 to 100,000 rubles, and repeat violations within a year result in criminal prosecution.

According to investigators, Kanevsky District resident Alexander Maltsev publicly made obscene remarks about a participant in the Special Military Operations Command, as well as about the military operation itself. The security officials who compiled the case against Maltsev believed he had thereby discredited the Russian Armed Forces, according to the case file published on the Kanevsky District Court website.

At the trial, Maltsev admitted his guilt, expressed remorse, and asked for the case to be dismissed, as he believed his actions were insignificant. The judge found Maltsev guilty but decided to dismiss the case because Alexander Maltsev's actions did not entail significant consequences.

The court dismissed the case against Maltsev due to the insignificance of the offense committed and limited itself to a verbal warning.

No comments were received from Alexander Maltsev or his representatives regarding the court's decision.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that on April 3, it was reported that a court in the Temryuk district fined local resident Olga Sklyarova under the article on discrediting the Russian army for discussing the work of the air defense system with neighbors.
