Seven people were killed and seven were wounded in armed and terrorist attacks in the North Caucasus in the first quarter of 2026.

At least 14 people were injured in armed and terrorist attacks in the North Caucasus from January 1 to March 31, 2026. Seven were killed and seven were wounded. These are the results of the Caucasian Knot's calculations, based on its own materials and information from open sources.

On January 20, security forces reported the murder of a Kislovodsk resident suspected of plotting a terrorist attack in Stavropol. According to the FSB, a Kislovodsk resident, born in 1982, was suspected of plotting a terrorist attack that was foiled in Stavropol in December 2025. He offered armed resistance during an arrest attempt.

On January 28, law enforcement sources reported a shootout on the outskirts of the village of Ullubiyaul in the Karabudakhkent district, during which two unidentified individuals were killed. They allegedly opened fire on law enforcement officers during an identity check. Some sources reported that weapons and ammunition were seized from the attackers' car. According to the FSB, the shootout disrupted preparations for terrorist attacks planned by an unnamed international terrorist organization banned in Russia. On February 11, one person was killed and three were wounded in a shooting near the Anapa Industrial College. A student born in 2008 opened fire and has been detained. A security guard at the college, who prevented the attacker from entering the building, was killed. Three people were wounded. On February 12, the Anapa City Court remanded two minors in custody in connection with the technical school shooting – the shooter and the young man who incited him to commit the crime. On February 18, in the village of Nikolaevka in the Rostov Region, a man born in 1981, who was on the federal wanted list, detonated a grenade and died while security forces were attempting to detain him. Two police officers were injured in the explosion. On February 20, the FSB reported the thwarting of a terrorist attack at the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation branch in Stavropol. According to security forces, the man who was planning the explosion on behalf of Ukrainian intelligence services offered armed resistance and was killed in a shootout.

On March 28, the FSB announced that a sabotage and terrorist attack against a law enforcement officer and his family had been thwarted in Stavropol. According to security forces, the attack was planned by a Russian citizen born in 1995 on behalf of Ukrainian intelligence services. "During the detention of a saboteur by officers of a special unit of the Russian FSB, the Ukrainian handler remotely detonated an IED, resulting in injuries incompatible with life," the agency said in a statement.

On March 30, two Interior Ministry officers were injured in the Buinaksk district. The shooter has been detained. According to the official version, the police were driving past the village but noticed a group brawl. One of the participants in the brawl opened fire when the security forces arrived. Two officers were hospitalized with injuries. "The suspect, a 31-year-old resident of the village of Nizhny Dzhengutai, has been detained," the agency reported.

Earlier, in the fourth quarter of 2025, two people were killed and seven were injured. A year ago, in the first quarter of 2025, eight people were killed and two were injured.
