Ramzan Kadyrov once again starts talking about his resignation

When commenting on a question from a Chechen news agency concerning rumours about his possible resignation, Ramzan Kadyrov has stated that he “asks on his own will” to be relieved of his post.

The recent Chechen leader’s statement about his willingness to leave his post was disseminated on May 5 by the “Chechnya Today” news agency, controlled by the republic’s authorities. A news agency reporter asked Ramzan Kadyrov a question concerning “the resignation rumours.”

“I have also heard those rumours. They write all sorts of things. I, on the contrary, am asking myself to be relieved of my post. Someone else will have their own initiatives and their own vision. I hope that my request will be supported,” Ramzan Kadyrov stated.

In the morning of May 5, a post about the future of power in Chechnya and the supposed scenarios for its change appeared in one of the publications recognized in Russia as an “undesirable organization.” The article described the active career advancement of Adam Kadyrov, a 17-year-old son of the leader of Chechnya, and personnel changes in the republic’s power institutions associated with other children of the Chechen leader, also mentioning versions of the Ramzan Kadyrov’s health problems.
