Activist Lyudmila Borzilo forcibly taken to psychiatric clinic by police

Activist Lyudmila Borzilo from the Rostov Region was taken to a hospital by an investigator’s order.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Lyudmila Borzilo, a member of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) from the Rostov Region, complained that the law enforcement bodies had groundlessly instituted a criminal case against her. The activist also claimed that law enforcers demanded from her to undergo a psychiatric examination and that officials were trying to place her children in an orphanage to punish her for her active civic position. On March 3, the court placed Lyudmila Borzilo under house arrest.

Lyudmila Borzilo has been accused of disclosing the secret of adoption.

Natalia Oskina, a Rostov-on-Don City Duma member, spoke in defence of Lyudmila Borzilo. Natalia Oskina described the incident as “punitive psychiatry” and “a gross violation of human rights.”

In Russia, medical tests may be taken exclusively with a patient’s will, emphasizes Sergey Gromov, a lawyer of the mother of many children.
