Makhachkala resident claims being beaten by police and arrested after action in memory of Navalny

After the detention, law enforcers beat Makhachkala resident Mukhammed Djambulatov, who laid flowers at a spontaneous memorial to Alexei Navalny, and forced him to refuse a medical examination, which resulted in his arrest for 11 days.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on February 25, a spontaneous memorial to Alexei Navalny appeared in the Reduktorny village of Makhachkala.

Mukhammed Djambulatov said that he was detained after laying several flowers and a portrait of the deceased oppositionist at the Alexei Navalny memorial. Law enforcers tracked his route and took him from a cafe, but refused to provide him with legal assistance, the “RusNews” portal reports.

According to Mukhammed Djambulatov’s version, the law enforcers beat him on the head with a ruler and forced him to refuse a medical examination.

A court sentenced Mukhammed Djambulatov to 11 days of arrest, finding him guilty under the article on evading diagnostic examination. At the same time, according to the man’s story, his mobile phone was also confiscated, so he could not contact anyone for a long time.

The official website of the court reports that Mukhammed Djambulatov was found guilty of “consuming narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances without a doctor’s prescription.”
