Residents of Chechnya performed namazes for Palestine Muslims

In Chechnya, mosques have hosted collective namazes (prayers) in support for Muslims in Palestine, who are in danger after a sharp escalation of the conflict with Israel.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that hostilities between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement began on October 7 with the firing of hundreds of missiles into Israeli territory. The Israeli Defence Forces responded by launching a military operation against Hamas, after which Israel announced blockade of the Gaza Strip. Thousands of people perished on both sides.

The Takhadjud Namaz is an additional night prayer performed after sleep, the website "Islam.ru" has explained.

Thousands of believers gathered at the Heart of Chechnya Mosque for a collective Takhadjud Namaz, the Chechen Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) has reported in its Telegram channel.

The Instagram* public "ChP Grozny No. 1", which supports the republic's authorities, has reported that such prayers will be held starting tonight in all major mosques in Chechnya."

Earlier, Salakh Mezhiev, the Mufti of Chechnya, has called on local residents to gather for the Takhadjud Namaz in support of Palestine Muslims.

"All the Muslims of the world are concerned about the fate of their brothers in Palestine, who have been subjected to extreme injustice and cruelty," Mufti Mezhiev was quoted as saying by the "Grozny Inform" News Agency.

Let us remind you that Jewish communities in the republics of Northern Caucasus have reacted to Hamas' threats. Thus, a number of events have been cancelled by the Jewish communities of Makhachkala and Kizlyar due to threats from Palestinian militants.

*On March 21, 2022, the Tverskoi Court of Moscow banned the activities in Russia of the Meta Company, owning the Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, in connection with extremist activities.
