Social network users support demand of Caucasian activists to confiscate history textbooks

The Russian Congress of Caucasian Nations and the Council of Ingush Elders have criticized the school textbook on Russian history, in which the deportation of Caucasian nations was explained by their collaboration with German fascists, while the Congress of the Karachay People has demanded to confiscate all the copies of the textbook. Social media users have supported these demands.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ramzan Kadyrov demanded to rewrite the chapter of the above new school textbook, in which the deportation of Caucasian nations is justified by their collaboration with German fascists.

The social movement entitled "Russian Congress of Caucasian Nations" came out with sharp criticism of the textbook authors.

The Congress of the Karachay People has appealed to Vyacheslav Volodin, the Russian State Duma Speaker, and Valentina Matvienko, the Chair of the Federation Council, with a demand to confiscate the textbook. "In the context in which the actions of ... 'Bandera people' are described, entire nations are mentioned: Karachais, Balkars, Ingushes, Chechens, Crimean Tatars and Kalmyks. Of course, this cannot but insult members of the deported nations of the USSR, since the sons of these peoples bravely fought for the multinational Soviet people," says the Congress page on the "VKontakte" social network.

"Already in the first years of deportation, from hunger and cruel conditions ... a third of each nation died; the majority were children, old people and women," the Congress of the Karachay People has stated.

The "Tsori" Council of Elders has appealed to the Ingush Parliament with a request to "deal with the sensational history textbook," the "Magas Times" Telegram channel has reported.

Commentators on the Telegram channel have also called to punish those who used scandalous formulations in the textbook.

"These 'scientists' should be sued! Let them be held accountable for slander and distortion of historical facts!" the user D. D. was indignant. "The authors of the textbook should be brought to criminal liability," the user 53419 has expressed his opinion.
