Prosecutor demands nine years in colony for Krasnodar journalist Nozdrinov

The prosecutor has demanded to sentence Alexander Nozdrinov, a journalist from Krasnodar, accused of spreading fakes about the Russian Army, to nine years in colony. None of those who came to support the journalist were allowed into the courtroom.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Alexander Nozdrinov was charged within a criminal case for disseminating fake news about the Russian Army. His relatives linked his persecution with his civic position and declared the court's bias, as his defence has provided proofs of Nozdrinov's innocence.

On September 15, the prosecutor spoke at the court session on Nozdrinov's case, Natalia Volivach, an advocate, has informed. "He repeated all the arguments of the indictment without making any analysis and demanded to sentence my client to nine years of freedom deprivation," she has stated, noting that again none of those who came to support Nozdrinov were allowed into the courtroom, including his wife Ekaterina, who had been earlier removed from there, when she tried to act as a public defender.

Let us remind you that in March 2022, the home of Alexander Nozdrinov, who ran the "Sanya Novokubansk" YouTube channel, was searched. Nozdrinov was beaten up during his detention. Initially, he was arrested in an administrative case of disobedience to traffic police inspectors, and then he was placed in custody already under a criminal case. The reason was in the publication of a photo of a destroyed high-rise building in Kyiv with a caption containing a critical assessment of Russian militaries' actions.

Alexander Isavnin, an expert, has pointed to the reasons to believe that the proofs presented by the prosecution "have signs of falsification." In particular, he found signs of editing in screenshots of publications that formed the basis of the criminal case.
