Based on check outcomes, PO and Ombudsperson fail to confirm torture of Dagestani Ramazan Gadjiev

The information of Ramazan Gadjiev, a prisoner from Dagestan, about torture in the Mordovian colony was not confirmed, the Prosecutor's Office (PO) has reported. The Ombudsperson for Mordovia, during his meeting with Gadjiev, also found no violations of any of the prisoner's rights.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in August Ramazan Gadjiev complained that the colony staff in Mordovia was poisoning him with bleach, dousing him with liquid from a fire extinguisher and spraying pepper gas on him. Aza Alieva, his advocate, said she had sent appeals to a number of instances.

After checking the Gadjiev's information, the PO reported that the torture in the colony was not confirmed, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has reported.

"Gadjiev explained that everything is fine with him and his rights are not violated!" Aza Alieva wrote in her Telegram channel.

Let us remind you that prisoners from the republics of Northern Caucasus have repeatedly complained about violations of their rights in colonies located in other Russian regions. Thus, on August 10, natives of Dagestan and Chechnya complained of torture in a colony in the Ulyanovsk Region. Human rights defenders claimed that the colony staff had forced Muslim prisoners from Dagestan and Chechnya to shave their beards, tortured them and took away their personal belongings.
