Residents of Makhachkala demand to resume electricity supply

On August 17, residents of the Semender village and Akushinsky Avenue blocked the streets in Makhachkala to protest against interruptions in the electricity supply. On Akushinsky Avenue, the supply of electricity has been restored, and the protest action has been stopped, the authorities report. Residents of the Semender village have been promised that the electricity supply will be resumed in the nearest future.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on August 16, local residents blocked Gamidov Avenue in Makhachkala in protest against problems with the electricity supply. Russian General Prosecutor Igor Krasnov instructed his subordinates to find the causes of the massive power outages in Dagestan. In the village of Semender and on Akushinsky Avenue, residents took to the streets and blocked traffic with demands to return water and electricity to their homes. The protestors were categorical and refused to leave the streets until they received what they wanted, reported the “Administrator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan” Telegram channel, run by Gayana Garieva, the chief of the press service for the Dagestani MIA.

On August 15, residents of the Reduktorny Posyolok microdistrict tried to block traffic in protest against power surges.

On August 9, residents of Makhachkala blocked Magomed Gadjiev Street. According to them, there has been no electricity in their homes for three days already, and there is no reaction from the authorities. After conversations with officials and police, the city residents unblocked the street.
