Poland deports former employee of Dagestani FSB

The authorities of Poland ignored an urgent complaint filed to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) against a court’s decision on deportation of Emran Navruzbekov, a former FSB employee from Dagestan, and handed him over to Russia. A spouse and children of Emran Navruzbekov were granted asylum in Poland.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Emran Navruzbekov, who left Russia and requested political asylum in Europe, publicly voiced accusations against his colleagues in December 2022. In his interview to Vladimir Osechkin*, the head of the human rights project “Gulagu.Net”, Emran Navruzbekov claimed that employees of the FSB Department for Dagestan had been involved in the terror acts that took place in Dagestan and other regions of Northern Caucasus. After that, Emran Navruzbekov complained that his relatives in Dagestan were subjected to pressure from the law enforcement bodies.

The spouse of Emran Navruzbekov was granted asylum in Poland, while her husband was deported under the pretext of a threat he allegedly posed to the country’s security, the publication “Sota” reports with reference to advocate Karinna Moskalenko. At the same time, according to the advocate, the asylum procedure has not been completed yet.

“What will I do here without my husband? They gave me protection. What can I do with this protection? I was left with nothing. How will I feed my children? I don’t know what will happen to my husband, as I already heard screams when I spoke to him,” said Irina, the spouse of Emran Navruzbekov, as quoted by the publication “Vot Tak”.
